About the programme
Programme Information

 

project orientation [international] was initiated by the PROJEKTMANAGEMENT GROUP (PMG) of the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration, Austria in January 2005 and was closed-down on 9th July 2007.

The programme objectives were the analysis of the maturity of about 250 project-oriented companies and about 5 project-oriented industries in about 10 project-oriented nations as well as the benchmarking of these project-oriented companies, industries and nations.

 

Participants and process

The following 7 nations have participated in the research programme:

    Austria: PROJEKTMANAGEMENT GROUP, Vienna University of
      Economics and Business Administration
    Finland: Project Management Association Finland 
    Germany: Nordakademie University of Applied Science
    Lithuania: ISM - University of Management and Economics 
    Romania: Roland Gareis Consulting Bucharest
    Slovakia: Project Management Association of Slovakia 
    South Africa: University of the Free State

All of the seven nations have analysed their project-oriented companies by applying the model "project-oriented company mature" based on ROLAND GAREIS Management of the project-oriented Company®. Furthermor they have conducted the national analysis by using the model project-oriented nation mature and are in the progress on producing their national report.

The national results have been benchmarked during the academic workshop on 5th May 2007.  The results of the 182 project-oriented companies and the 7 nations are published in the final research report.

Presentations and awards

The final results have been presented to the public at the pm days'07 on 8th May 2007.

The research work of Roland Gareis and its poi-research team haa been honoured during the IPMA World Congress 2007 in Cracow, Poland, as an IPMA Outstanding Research Contribution 2007, in the framework of the IPMA Research Award.

Furthermore Eva Füssinger has received the IPMA Young Research Award 2007 for her research contribution in project orientation [austria II] in the same ceremony in Cracow.

 

Funding

The research programme is partly financed by the European Regional Develpment Fund (ERDF) as the proposal for INTERREG IIIA dealing with the analysis and the benchmarking of Slovakia and Austria as project-oriented nations has been accepted. The project is called project orientation [sk-at].

The analysis of Lithuania as a project-oriented nations as been co-funded by the Leonardo da Vinci programme (Project no. T/05/B/F/PP-17015), and was performed within the framework of another project, Project Management Competence Assessment Tool (PM CAT).
